jet Upset prevention Recovery

Loss of control in flight (LOC-I) is the leading cause of fatal general aviation accidents. Many of these scenarios are recoverable through training to develop the correct conditioned responses and aerodynamic procedures. The focus of this course is to learn the techniques for recognition, avoidance, and recovery.

Course

The program is two sorties and is integral to the MILSPEC Jet Training curriculum. Flight maneuvers are designed to match those encountered in corporate jet aircraft having limited flight control authority with which to execute recovery. Training takes place in the Marchetti S-211 tactical jet and transitions the applicant to performing unusual attitude maneuvers in their aircraft.

objectives

To develop the proper conditioned responses to flight outside the normal maneuvering envelope through exposure to regimes beyond those normally encountered. In the aerobatic aircraft the applicant will learn to master the control of angle of attack, load factors, lift vector, and orientation to regain control from any attitude.

COMPLETION STANDARDS

The applicant will demonstrate prompt and intuitive control inputs in response to upset scenarios to recover the aircraft to normal flight attitude while remaining within limitations. Training, maneuvers, and emergency procedures will be evaluated and scored according to the standards and metrics established by the US Navy. This program is designed around the concept of training to demonstrated proficiency.
